Complete feature list

Live target console

  • Live video from common standards-compliant USB/UVC capture devices using Windows' built-in capture support.
  • Native Blackmagic DeckLink capture when Blackmagic Desktop Video is installed and a supported DeckLink card is present.
  • DeckLink input-format auto-detection and recovery when the source format changes.
  • GPU-composited preview with preserve-aspect-ratio display enabled by default.
  • Fullscreen and windowed operation.
  • Target audio monitoring through a selected local playback endpoint.
  • Mute, per-session volume, and loudness-leveling controls.
  • Relative mouse for natural live control.
  • Absolute pointer positioning for exact automation clicks.
  • Configurable mouse sensitivity.
  • Configurable, modifier-only input-release chord.
  • Automatic interface connection when an input action needs it.

Capture and observation tools

  • PNG snapshots with a configurable destination folder.
  • MP4 recording from the active preview without reopening the capture device.
  • H.264 recording.
  • HEVC recording when the required Windows encoder is available.
  • Configurable recording bitrate, output resolution, and frame rate.
  • Audio recording when an audio session is active.
  • Local OCR selection from the target image.
  • OCR result copied to the operator clipboard.
  • Optional OCR-to-Paste-panel handoff for review before typing to the target.
  • Target-input-to-captured-frame latency test using visible target response rather than transport timing alone.
  • Diagnostics overlay with video, audio, interface, recording, and Visual Anchor matcher information.
  • Copy and reset controls for diagnostics.

Text and shortcut tools

  • Paste text by translating it into real target keyboard input.
  • Smart-punctuation normalization for curly quotes, typographic dashes, ellipses, non-breaking spaces, and zero-width characters.
  • Skip-by-default behavior for characters that cannot be typed in the selected keyboard layout.
  • Optional strict mode that stops on the first untypable character.
  • Optional typing throttle for unusually slow BIOS or console targets.
  • Plain-text Paste Snippet library.
  • Assignable Paste Snippet hotkeys.
  • User-defined multi-key Shortcut buttons.
  • Built-in ability to send combinations that are awkward or intercepted on the operator computer.

Sessions and configuration

  • Named sessions for video, audio, input, and layout choices.
  • New, open, save, save-as, recent, and session-management workflows.
  • First-run hardware selection wizard.
  • Common video and audio device rescanning.
  • Source-format matching for UVC capture devices.
  • Read-only current-format indication for auto-detected DeckLink sources.
  • Configurable screenshot and recording folders.
  • Controll3r Interface health, capabilities, keyboard LED state, and diagnostic counters.
  • Safe device-configuration lifecycle: changes are trialed live, verified by reading the device state back, and saved permanently only after the trial is correct.
  • Factory reset and reboot controls for the Controll3r Interface.
  • First-use prompt to enable and persist the absolute pointer device when an automation feature needs it.

Macro automation

  • Guided recording of keyboard and pointer actions.
  • Click grounding as either a fixed position or Visual Anchor.
  • One grounding decision for a whole recording: Do this for all remaining clicks (stop asking) applies your choice to every later click.
  • Cursor-free Visual Anchor template capture.
  • Drag-a-box anchor selection with a suggested initial region.
  • Contiguous keyboard input grouped into one editable key-sequence block.
  • Recording pause and resume without counting operator-dialog time.
  • Three-region macro editor: block palette, flow, and inspector.
  • Block reordering by drag-and-drop, move buttons, or keyboard.
  • Multi-select and wrapping existing blocks inside an If or Repeat structure.
  • One-step Convert to Await Anchor on Delay blocks — replace a fragile recorded pause with a wait that watches the screen.
  • Editable labels and settings.
  • Portable .c3rm macro files — a single file containing the whole macro and its anchor images.
  • Rename, duplicate, delete, and open-folder library actions.
  • REST upload and download for .c3rm bundles.
  • Macro Repeat with randomized delay between runs.

Available macro blocks

  • fixed-position click
  • Visual Anchor click
  • key sequence
  • type text
  • delay
  • Await Anchor
  • Wait Until Clear
  • Wait For Operator
  • If anchor is present or absent
  • Repeat by count
  • Repeat until an anchor appears or disappears
  • Break
  • Continue
  • Stop

Playback safety and recovery

  • Live operator input is paused while a macro owns the target.
  • A visible running banner shows the active block and loop progress.
  • Playback can be canceled from the banner or configured stop key.
  • Wait timeouts default to 0, meaning a wait may run indefinitely by design; set a timeout when a wait should give up.
  • Timeout branches can perform recovery work.
  • Repeat blocks have separate safety limits so a looping macro cannot repeat endlessly by accident.
  • Failure evidence can show the expected anchor, current target image, best match, and timeout context.
  • Failed anchors can be recaptured or opened directly in the editor.
  • Visual Anchor matching is color-aware.
  • Anchor matching runs on the graphics card when available and automatically falls back to the processor.

Headless and integration features

  • --headless mode runs everything without the desktop interface.
  • Saved-session startup.
  • Per-user headless autostart installation and removal commands.
  • Only one Controll3r instance can own the capture device and Controll3r Interface at a time; a second instance must explicitly take over.
  • UI takeover of a running headless host.
  • Optional restart of the previous headless launch mode after UI takeover.
  • REST health, screenshot, macro library, and playback endpoints.
  • Bearer authentication on every /v1 endpoint except health.
  • Loopback HTTP mode.
  • LAN HTTPS mode using a locally generated self-signed certificate.

Current product boundaries

  • The operator application is Windows x64 only.
  • Visual Anchors require the playback capture resolution and format to match the recording context.
  • HDR capture and tone mapping are not supported.
  • DeckLink requires Blackmagic Desktop Video, which is not bundled.
  • Capture-device latency and supported formats vary by model and driver.
  • Wait For Operator cannot run in a headless process because no person can be prompted there.
  • Macros use the .c3rm format; text-script formats are not supported.
